Thanet public meeting 12 December

Dear Michael This is a blatant plug, if I may, for a public meeting on 12 December about the issues facing Thanet, which you and fellow Thanet bloggers have been keeping a watchful eye on:

Manston Airport’s planned expansion
China Gateway
Thanet Earth
Phase 2 of the East Kent Access road

Chaired by local filmmaker Norman Thomas
Speakers: Dr Caroline Lucas, Green MEP for the South East
John Stewart, Chair of AirportWatch
Dr Hilary Newport, Director of CPRE Kent

7.30pm Friday 12 December
St George’s Hall
Broad Street
Ramsgate
CT118RG
Thank you! Sean Furey

  1. I will be interested to learn how this public meeting goes. Whether it will be preaching to the converted or whether it will attract people newly aware of the issues.

  3. Sad people with no ambition to see Thanet prosper and create work for our children and those who so desperately would like to work.I agree 14.34 same old protesters same agenda

  4. There are 800 vacancies per week advertised in some Midlands cities.

I take it the Thanet kids are so desperate to work they move to take work ? Oh no they stay on benefits and leave Poles to move to take work in this country.

And one of the many flaws in your position anon is the attitude a quality employer would have (presumably you don't want poor health and safety national minimum wage jobs)

    Quality employers need quality employees.

So in comes one of your Thanet kids desperate for a job.

"How long have you been claiming benefits ?"

"Since I left school nothing round here for us see"

"And did you go to college or move to take work"

"Nah. Just waited for jobs to be created in Thanet innit"

Would you take such a Thanet tosser on ?

    Only for supervised monkey work.

But you'd be better off to employ Poles and save on the supervision.

  5. A very one sided debate, absolutely no balance to it at all. Let them get on with it, it can't hold any credibility.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
