YOUNG PEOPLE GET NOISY

Thanet district Council press release

Youngsters can be seen and heard later this month (May), as Noise Action Day is celebrated in Broadstairs.

Thanet District Council’s Environmental Protection Team will be in Asda on Wednesday 20 May, between 9.30am and 4pm, getting children to shout into a noise monitor, as loudly as they can. The loudest will then win a slimline MP3 player, which holds up to 500 songs, donated by Asda.

The team will also be handing out information about what people can do if they have a problem with noisy neighbours and will be explaining about the other issues they deal with, including air pollution, high garden hedges and light pollution.

Environmental Protection Manager Penny Button said: “This is fun way to highlight a serious issue. Many people suffer from problems with noise, perhaps from their neighbours or nearby businesses and Noise Action Day aims to draw attention to that and show people where they can go to get help with the problem. But Environmental Health is about much more than just noise.

We deal with many things that affect people’s lives, including air quality, pest infestations and blocked drains.”

  1. I'd rather they monitored the noise pollution from the airport properly than handed out MP3 players to noisy kids.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
