Margate’s big after the event
Click here for the page on their website, as the big event starts in less than half an hour they are cutting it a bit fine. They don’t appear to properly understand the meaning of the words publicity and news.
Update having scoured the web for some of the secrets of Margate’s Big event
From a lady at the Margate tourist info office (she was apparently reading them from the event programme) - at least the start times are the same!
Flying times are 3.30 - 5.30 p.m. on Saturday (Reds closing) and 2.50 - 4.30 p.m. on Sunday
This in response to an email to the council to ask the times for the "3.30 - 5pm on Saturday and 2.50pm - 4.20pm on the Sunday"so 30 mins shorter than stated above, hope its a mistake on their part
This from the Red Arrows website
1508 - Reds arrive MANSTON
1648 - Reds depart MANSTON
1700 - Reds display MARGATE (Margate Airshow 2009, Kent)
1728 - Reds recover MANSTON
1915 - Reds depart MANSTON
I gave up in the end and went to Ramsgate Tourist information to buy a program so I would know what is going on, there is a sign on the door saying; closed due to unforeseen circumstances and the interactive touch screen out side says the information is to follow.
You couldn’t make it up could you.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
Will be down tomorrow for Father's Day. Should I avoid the festivities?
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable! The biggest annual event on the island, and Thanet Distric Council says "Full programme available soon." on the morning it starts.
ReplyDeleteSack the whole TDC PR/Publicity team! Or better still, transfer them to street cleaning.
I think it is becausethe programme is for sale at two british pounds and to enable them to sell them they wont putone on the web for nowtme thinks
ReplyDeleteDon’t know Jeremy I am not much of a plane spotter so I don’t go, Preston Rally next week is much more up my street.
ReplyDeleteThanet Observer well it’s now pretty much midday two hours into the event and it still hasn’t appeared, got to be one of Thanet’s best kept secrets.
Don the problem is that not everyone can be there all the time, here for instance we are all at work and knowing little secrets like what time the firework display is tonight wouldn’t go amiss.
It is a free event so they sell a programme to claw back some of the costs - why give it away free ??!!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmm I am at a loss as to how difficult it must be to employ someone with a grain of sense in the PR department. thanks for the times Michael we went up to early and were unable to plan our day so missed the planes ..............
