Euroferries Ramsgate/ Bologne service

Euroferries is pleased to confirm that the high speed ferry, Bonanza Express since last week has been undergoing final preparations by FOSA' in Tenerife for its transfer to Boulogne.
Arrangements including dreging are in hand at both Ports in support of Euroferries new Ramsgate/ Bologne service scheduled to commence on the 14th November.

  1. An optimistic scene in these pics, Michael. Pics during the summer have shown Euroferries painted out having been painted on and is one to believe these chaps are re-painting again? When were pics taken? What dredging? What berth preparation? What reception/departure training and facilities? What financial bonds placed with harbours? What training of crew for Channel and entry and exit from both ports. Cutting it fine for first sailings on 14th? A pessimistic view but I have been dubious about this project from its inception; would love to be proved wrong on 14th.

  5. Bertie Readit I have to admit I was very sceptical until I heard that Thanet District Council were causing delays.

Anything good and viable for Ramsgate seems to get this sort of, work to rule treatment, the maritime museum being another case in point.

Of course if you want to construct a huge development against EA safety advice, then little things like statutory obligation to notify us about closing off large areas of the public footpath can just be ignored.

  6. Interesting that all the projects you mention Michael are within the remit of TDC's Director of Regeneration Services, Brian White.

Far be it for me to suggest he's crap at his job though.

  7. Looks like the photo on your link Michael is an old one of the booking in hall - I mean to say a Tax Free shop - with old sign-age and old bill boards outside still with the current ferry operators motifs.

I just wonder how much public money will be thrown at this company before it goes bust.

Due diligence does not apply with MP's or TDC apparently?

  8. 8.32 a bit of confusion here I didn’t put a link any picture of a departure lounge in any of my postings of comments, I try to stick to facts that I can substantiate.

I had assumed that port Ramsgate already had a fully operational departure lounge, or is it the intention to run a different one for each operator using the port?

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
