Fire Brigade Extinguish Sea at Ramsgate and other pictures
However from a purely spectator point of view it does look pretty funny and has all the hallmarks of boys playing with expensive toys, click here for the rest of the pictures of this event and click here for the rest of yesterdays pictures of Ramsgate

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
Where will the firemen practice if this TDC asset disposal site is sold for redevelopment?
ReplyDeletePerhaps they had to top up the sea as it could be deeper now, with the dredging of the harbour.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I remember the drills well. How to make a dam from ladders and a tarpaulin, water relay etc. I think it's a statutory duty to practice this every so often. All very serious stuff, but boys will be boys! I remember doing a similar drill at Ramsgate Harbour when we pumped at a higher pressure just to see one of the smaller members of our crew being lifted off the ground. We actually had him hovering for a while!
