Pleasurama another weeding, Simon Moores makes me stand on
one leg and discover I have a brain the size of a walnut, a ramble.
It looks like weeding the cliff façade on the
Pleasurama site is to become a biannual event, here is my post about last time
they did it http://thanetonline.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/council-weed-pleasurama-cliff-facade.html
This is what the cliff façade looks like today.
This is what it looked like last month.
I guess as we haven’t heard anything about The Royal Sands
development for a while I had better ask the council what is going on again,
unless of course anyone reading here knows and can fill us in.
On to the health service and fears about cuts, the aging
population, reorganisation and so on.
There is quite a bit of recent stuff about this on the local
web, the post by Simon Moores that had me albeit very briefly standing on one
leg with my eyes shut, wondering where my wife had hidden the chocolate until I
concluded that my brain had shrunk so much that I would never be able to work
it out. Here is Simon’s post
http://birchington.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/age-and-ageing.html
There is a FaceBook group about local health cuts and
changes, see http://www.facebook.com/groups/359186860784103
I don’t really understand how FaceBook works, probably due to my atrophied
brain, but the KCC video James Maskell has added there won’t work so I am just
going to try it in blogger and then ramble on.
Sorry about the delay there, my bookshop is
fairly busy today and trying to get the KCC video to work on all platforms has
proved impossible. I can’t for instance view the video on my smartphone that
has an Android operating system. Why KCC can’t use YouTube like the rest of us instead
of wasting our money on some expensive in house system that is only partly effective
is anybodies guess.
Michael .. perhaps we should encourage a mass one-legged local stand against any future health service cuts!?
ReplyDeleteWe could call it the 'Flamingo Group'. Or, to appear less of a toff necessary to get the lefties votes, the "Common Sandpiper Group".
DeleteSee the local main protagonist in the campaign to save our QEQM hospital, which isn't actually under threat, is not exactly a picture of lean athletic manhood himself. Indeed, he looks very likely to cost the NHS a few bob in the future down to a self inflicted beer gut.
DeleteJust remember that some people have just that - one leg and for many others they would gladly like to be able to stand even if it was just on one leg. Its no joke.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 7:00 PM,
DeleteI cannot follow your reasoning. What is your point in the context of what has gone before? Do you seek to imply that Michael and Simon were poking fun at one legged people?
Anon I spent most of my childhood disabled, went to the main school for the disabled and can assure you that being unable to stand due to a disability doesn’t effect your sense of humour, doesn’t stop middle aged people standing on one leg with their eyes shut in order to ascertain how much their brain has shrunk from being funny.
DeleteI think your inference that the physically disabled have a reduced sense of humour is bordering on the offensive
Overly touchy, 7:00 PM, it was just light hearted banter and even one legged people have a sense of humour. Recall an old army pal, who lost a leg in Northern Ireland, going around with a knitted parrot pinned to his jacket shoulder.

ReplyDeleteNeither of my legs work but I still go out or a walk albeit in a wheelchair. I have a kick about with the kids, a run out climb aboard etc etc.my legs dont work but my humour is still working.
ReplyDeleteOn Pleasurama, have the secret meeting minutes and costs been published by our councillors yet?
ReplyDeleteIt seems a seafont buing venture: £25k for ramsgate Labour party, mystery tax havens, mystery plans?
Another year lost.
anon @4:43,
ReplyDeleteCan you please clarify your points.
What is a "buing venture"; and what are these secret meetings, mystery tax havens and mystery plans of which you speak?
If you are implying that you have knowledge of illegal activity then should you not present your evidence to the police?
