The big splodge – painting in Margate – and some pictures of old Thanet buses, a ramble.

Yawn, I have been driving round Kent for most of today buying books for my bookshop and fortunately some for me too, I didn’t get as many as I usually do and arrived in Margate for a late lunch and to do some more to my sketch from Turner Contemporary.

It was going fairly well when I had big black splodge syndrome in the middle of the painting, it’s on very poor quality paper so I don’t really know if there is any way forward apart from starting again.

I have been painting small faces again, which is the difficult end of watercolour, but I do eventually hope to develop some sort of style in painting and think this is part of it.

I priced a couple of Kent bus books which are now out on the shelves and have added photos to the Thanet bits.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
