A tale of two Margates or a watercolour with a bad case of tides, and some Lambrettas.

I arrived at Margate around lunchtime today, sat down to lunch in Turner Contemporary art gallery café and started working on the wrong watercolour.

I have two watercolours that I am in the process of painting from this window

this one for when the tide is in note the bit of boat left of left lamppost sunk that should have been on the painting below only.

and this one for when the tide is out

Lunch – bacon sos, egg and chips, soon had me sorted and I changed the picture in progress.

Margate Meltdown on Monday, typical bank holiday weather forecast, wing blowing directly from the north at 45 mph and rain. I was more of a rocker than a mod, various B.S.As B33, C12, A10 and Norton Wideline 88 if you speak biker. But today in Margate it was the 50s and 60s Lambrettas that caught my eye.

While I was away work continued in my bookshop, here is the link to the pictures of the books that went out on the shelves today http://michaelsbookshop.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/woodturning-books-in-bookshop.html

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
