Some old picture of Margate, Ramsgate and Deal, a new bookshop -possibly a ramble

if you stand on Ramsgate Sands and look toward the harbour the cliff beyond the harbour is whare Deal is.

Deal had a pier ages ago and has one now.

It has had a few bookshops over the years, but I don't ever remember it having a new Waterstone's type bookshop.

Anyway opening today The Deal Bookshop, which is actually an unbranded Waterstones

Deal seemed to have gone a bit upmarket on the book front when I visited yesterday, the picture above is of a display in Deal's Oxfam Bookshop.

Yesterday KCC levelled the pavement outside the bookshop in Ramsgate, this is how it looks today, our fault, we complained because someone tripped over it, it's always good to know your council tax is being spent on a quality job.

We ate in the Belgian Cafe this evening

they seem have inverted the bar, I tried photographing it

Tried sketching it, I think this would work best if you drank something that resulted in you lying on the ceiling.

It seems the great cook Delia Smith has burnt her boats, books, wosisnames

Next a few pictures of Ramsgate earlier today

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
