Old Thanet picts video about the book Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang

So the first one is King Street Ramsgate and this is where Boots is now. Cinque Ports pub on the left. This was all demolished to make way for Boots in the 60s or 70s I think.

Next one Margate Tudor house

Next one st Catherine's hospital Ramsgate High Street.

Then another one of the same hospital.

Then marine drive in Margate.

The harbour restaurant in Margate. Note the sailors retreat lookout slightly left of Centre.

Then Pearks store in Margate.

Then the white heart hotel Margate.

I think this next one is Margate but I can't remember where it is.

Another Tudor House one.

Arcade in Margate.

Then the Roman columns from Reculver

Followed by a picture of the explanatory text

Then The sportsman Inn

Then the Ramsgate one that says Canterbury road Mews

Then Ramsgate Westcliff with snow.

It's been a very busy morning here at Michael's bookshop in Ramsgate. Mostly local history enquiries which take a long time to sort out so I have got a bit behind with the post and not researched some of the photos properly. I'm afraid you'll have to do your best with what you've got.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
