Spring Youth Matters out now!

Thanet district Council press release

Jam packed with free events, activities and news the new edition of the Youth Matters Magazine is out now in time for the school holidays (Wc 30 March 2009).

Youth Matter’s is the essential events guide for Thanet’s young people and features celebrity interviews and vital news all for FREE.

Produced by a team of local young people with the help of Thanet District Council’s Communication team, Youth Matters is given out through local secondary schools, youth clubs, supermarkets and libraries.

This edition saw the youth editorial board becoming front page stars for the day as they donned make up and costumes to illustrate the different careers available to young people as well as featuring interviews with the famous local celebrity artist Ann Carrington and X Factor’s finalist Ben Mills.

The spring edition of Youth Matters also promotes local youth clubs, events on offer between April-July 2009 and includes features on students at St Georges C of E, Charles Dickens and King Ethelbert schools.

The magazine has two versions – one for young people aged between 11 and 14 years and the other for 15-19 years as well as a supporting website www.thanetyouthmatters.co.uk.

Cllr. Zita Wiltshire, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “The fact that Youth Matters is written by local young people for the young people of Thanet, makes it really unique and personal. The magazine is packed with loads of news and things to do, making it not only useful but an enjoyable read to. After reading Youth Matters, I can see no reason for young people in Thanet to have nothing to do and it’s really down to the many great clubs, events and activities put on by the Engage partnership who work hard to improve life for young people in the area.”

Youth Matters is being handed out at Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury at Westwood Cross on Friday 3 April between 2-5pm. To request a copy of Youth Matters call 01843 577050 or visit http://www.thanetyouthmatters.co.uk/

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
