New Thanet blog and more revelations about homophobia in Thanet.

First the new blog “Thanet Conservatives” http://www.thanetcons.blogspot.co.uk/ which seems to be a somewhat belated response to Simon Moores TIG blog http://tigabout.blogspot.co.uk/

A word of warning here, there are links to Mark Nottingham’s blog “From one end of Kent” on the new blog, which you can see from the picture above may have become infected presenting a risk to your computer.

Anyway for the cautious among you I have embedded a video here, from the new blog, which purports to contain further information about Ken Gregory’s homophobic phone call.

Councillor Josh Coombs is a Birchington Parish Councillor, see http://www.birchington.org/mod/page/view.php?id=6

Simon Moores has also posted about this issue see http://birchington.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/nasty-by-name-nasty-by-nature.html

Update the links that Google say are infected with malware have been removed from this site and so has the link to the video.

  1. Peter I am only getting the warning message using the Google Chrome browser, but as blogger is hosted by Google and I work on the assumption that Google’s geeks may know something about ITC that I don’t, I am sticking with my warning.

I am a bit of a slow thinker, particularly on Monday mornings and haven’t worked out what any of it is really about yet, perhaps one of our local councillors will tell us

  3. Goodness this isn't rocket science. Ken Gregory, rightly or wrongly, has just about completed his suspension. If he is to keep the spotlight on his alter ego Mr Fox needs to reappear. If you go to Twitter you'll see that the Diversity Champion has been ramping up the pressure for a few weeks now,

    1. OK Tim but what about the video posted yesterday by a Conservative parish councillor, what is this supposed to signify. As a local voter with a continued expectation of something approaching a viable opposition from the Conservative group, I find that it is Cllr Driver and not the Conservative group leader continually in the media spotlight and saying sensible things that I as a voter can relate to.

    2. Sorry about that, Monday morning and my eye not really on the ball, as hardly anyone had watched it I assumed it was new, certainly new to me.

There seems to be no doubt that we are getting excellent value out of Ian Driver and I guess were he standing in my ward at the next election I would vote for him regardless of his political affiliations.

With a district council like TDC for the most part there is very little variation in what you gat under different political administrations, the streets still have to be cleaned, rubbish collected, planning applications inspected and so on.

The main variation for me, here in Ramsgate appeared to be the council owned, high profile properties in the town, Pleasurama, pavilion, Albion House, Westcliff Hall and so on.

So many of them being empty and derelict seemed impossible to me to be just a coincidence and after eight years of the Conservatives I put the situation down to spite against a predominately Labour town.

We did see the maritime museum open again and frankly the comments from Chris Wells here did seem to confirm what I had thought.

Labour’s attitude towards the Pleasurama site, which seems to be get the money, regardless of what the site is actually worth, what the developers actual intentions are, the damage to the town’s economy, but most of all failing to use the opportunity of the developer coming to the council for concessions, to insist on the basic safety assessment that the environment agency wanted, seems potty to me.

Certainly if the Labour group have got to grips with the other large council owned properties here they haven’t said much. All that seems to have happened is that some deal with the chap that has had the Pleasurama site for years, seems to have turned the Refectory next door into another empty one.

My feelings are that if the Conservatives ever want to get the balance of power back then the need to win some of Ramsgate back, seeing Ian Driver getting to grips with the task suggests the have. What? Given up, lost the initiative, I don’t really know.

  4. What absolute nonsense all of this is. Little boys playing being big men and failing miserably. The Labour Party will be laughing all the way to the next elections and I wonder where the absentee Conservative Leader is. Will you all just please grow up and try and do the job you were elected for, if you are able!!

  7. No Peter..I banned you from my weblog for being a 'troll' who makes no useful contribution to debate, any debate, beyond a stream of facile comments. TWR had absolutely nothing to do with it.

    (1) It's all true, something that "Dr" Moores banned me from his blog for mentioning (he's particularly sensitive about people mentioning Ted Whats-his-name whenever he posts about how Will and Jody aren't suitable as mayor / mayoress!)

  9. And why did you put Frank Spencer up as a Tory spokesman Simon, I thought Dr Bruce was your Birchington South spokesperson? Very odd in more ways than one!

  10. Far to boring for me to read all of the above, I tried, I failed and now I am ignoring it. Thanets councillors deserve a medal for total and absolute incompetence and I will continue to ignore their bitching and in fighting.

  11. Will Iran trigger a nuclear arms race in the middle east? I wonder if the Israelis will launch a strike on Iran? I hear that the British are establishing an airbase in Dubai. This is fascinating bearing in mind that we once controlled the whole area and created the gulf countries, including Iraq. Does this mean that we may go in with the US to attack Iran from our Dubai base? I see that we have refused the USAF access to our UK bases for a pre- UN resolution strike; but presumably the US could use our proposed base in Dubai? Then I wonder if we will get a referendum on the EU soon? The question is can we make it alone? I believe we can. We are a talented an enterprising nation, even though some rather silly people spit insults at each other, when they should be working.

  12. Nothing to do with the Conservatives. Josh Coombs is a parish councillor and not a district councillor expressing a personal view without any consultation. I don't think that Worrow's YouTube bulletins set a good example to follow.

  14. This is EXACTLY what Worrow wants. Coombes may or may not be right, its cant be proved either way but regardless of that it's just bad politics and shows Conservatives generally in a bad light.

With the agenda for this weeks Cabinet agenda so packed with serious issues, attention should be focused on that, not some bad blood from way back when.

  15. It would seem that Simon and James are disowning their Birchington South Conservative spokeman Cllr Coombs because he can be proven to be a liar; (A) because the Police have all telephone records from that day and the voice mail was the only telephone contact Gregory had with his victim; B, If my colleague Blackmailed Gregory he would have been arrested.

If I was Cllr Bruce I would be quite embarrassed by the fact that parish Coombs is trying to pass himself off as a Conservative South Ward Councillor - or was that part of their plan? And for James to suggest that John wants this kind of abuse shows that he is no smarter than Coombs.

  16. Who is this idiot Joss Coombs. One of Suzy Gales down and outs dragged in off the street just like the rest I presume.

  17. Gregory dunnit. He owned up to it. He should not be a councillor any longer.
    The rest is irrelevant.

  18. Maybe Mr Worrow missed the point...Mr gregory hated him as a human being (totally reasonable) and not as a Bi Bloke. Since when has it been a crime to hate an individual

    1. The fact that they defend Ken Gregory exposes how homophobic they are. Poor Josh is helping people that would deny him equal rights, you can't blame him though because he is special and too young to remember section 28 - thats why they used him. Not to worry others will continue to fight for his rights untill the penny drops!

  20. I must say some interesting comments here. The video by coombs is personal opinion by all accounts. Some others need personal tips on how to spell, very poor show. It's also nice to see two of the TIGA members make an exclusive appearance on this blog, looks like something hit a nerve somewhere along the line

    1. On that basis a lawyer who defends a person subsequently found guilty of murder must also have murderous intent. What utter cobblers people write when the TIG issue and homophobia become the subject. Basically you have a trio of no hopers trying to inflate their own self importance by playing victims the whole time. I was called 'fatty' at school but it did not scar me for life.

      Delete
    2. How very astute of you, Peter, but are you not guilty of obesitiphobia?

    3. Do you not find it as offensive to insult people because of their weight as it is to do so because of their race of sexual persuassion. You really are an odd ball at times, Peter. All peace and love one moment and then spiteful and catty the next. Anyway, just because Anon was called 'fatty' at school does not mean he/she is still overweight.

Incidentally, with the Jimmy Saville revelations we have heard various important people denounce the abuse of children and all the time it was underage girls it seemeed OK to hunt down the perpetrators. Interesting today in the media, that now it is allegations of offences against small boys, it is being described as a 'gay witch hunt!' Does that mean it is OK to hunt down and prosecute straight paedophiles but not gay ones. Your views on this would be interesting.

    4. You have lost me, Peter, and not for the first time, but who mentioned the TIGs. As far as I am aware only one of them is clinically obese.

    5. I disagree! if we are looking at Coombs, he openly admits he is homosexual, so how can he be homophobic...? on this basis I suggest to you that Coombs does not support homophobic abuse in any form. Coombs would easily get tarred by the same brush as he is part of the same group, but look at worrow... he will do anything to stay in the public eye and get the spot light on him so he will manipulate publicity in his favour by using sensitive topics such as animal rights and homophobia to get his following of people... when there are those who dont join or follow him because they can see its all really about him boosting HIS own profile and saving face, he will then call them rascists or homophobes and drum up his manipulated followers to finger point at them... but again what is failed to be seen is the reason people dont follow worrow is because he is only interested really in himself and his own ego, he is not really interested in local needs and what is right for the locals who pay their taxes... too much time spent arguing and one-upmanship rather than being focused on important pressing matters which affect OTHERS.

    6. Or maybe Mr Worrow really is agaimst homophobia and people that are cruel to animals?

Coombs might be gay but he not bright and probably would have been a trustee with a pink star in Germany!

      Delete
    7. And who in the council would you refer to as being bright then? look around you and take a look at Margate, Cliftonville, you dont even have to look hard to see inbedded ruin. Its a reflection of emptiness and falling apart which is going on within the council itself. Stuff the pink ribbons and pink bins, its all a big egotistical driven distraction. Focus on REAL needs and be champions for them instead!!

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
