A quick ramble, Royal Sands on the BBC news, HMV in administration, council’s budget documents published.

I have had a busy day today and have just got to the internet, deleted spam comments that seem to be leaking through, had glance at the news, which was fairly depressing, drawn a very quick sketch for the post as I didn’t get time to get out and take any photos today.

The Royal Sands development on the Pleasurama site in Ramsgate is back in the news for all the wrong reasons again, this time someone saying they were persuaded to put down a non-refundable deposit under false pretences.

I did ring up Terry Painter who assured me that if this person gets in touch with him he will endeavour to resolve their problems.

HMV another large chain retailer has gone into administration, in this area the effect like the Comet bankruptcy looks more likely to effect Westwood Cross and Canterbury than the Thanet towns.

With any media that can be converted into an electronic file technology is making things very difficult for on the street retailers, I don’t understand music retailing that well but I think with books, if the publishers don’t do more to support actual physical shops, then very soon there will be no realistic way of potential customers discovering the existence of many of their products.

The agenda for next week’s Thanet District Council cabinet meeting has been published, here is the link http://tdc-mg-dmz.thanet.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=151&MId=2693&Ver=4 as this meeting includes the budget, the budget documentation is available via links on that page.

I will endeavour to ramble on here, if I get time.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
