  1. Dogs shouldn't be on the beaches in the Summer months. I have no doubt that many owners are responsible. Unfortunately, many are not and do not clear up after their pets. In the absence of an army of people monitoring the dog owners the best solution is to impose an outright ban.

  2. How come I never seem to know in advance when these things are on. I would have made a big effort to see the Newfies.

  3. I agree with a dog ban on beaches and Holyer almost everywhere else except his own blog. Why is he threatening bloggers with the police to close down discussions on pollution and corruption? The dogs pictured should be checked by the RSPCA given the problems with Southern Water and the Environment Agency and TDC cleaning the beaches.

    1. Manston Man @ 5:51 pm,

It is clear from your recent posts, which until now I have ignored, that you are confused about the term IP address. An IP address is a unique number that is allocated to every computer connected to the internet. Consequently, no one posting on the internet can be truly anonymous. You should know that you can be found via your computer's IP address and your internet service provider. You should also know that anyone can download software from the internet that will enable them to trace a computer and its user.

I appreciate that this fact puzzles and disturbs you. I suggest that you send me an email so we can discuss it further. You can email me by clicking on my name. I look forward to hearing from you. We have much to talk about.

    2. Richard as anonymous 10:22 am,

Thank you Richard for your helpful suggestion; but the site you suggest is not what I am looking for.

I have no need to trouble the police.

    3. John Holyer, you are talking absolute rubbish. The only person who could trace an IP address from anonymous postings on a blog would be the service provider. It is ridiculous of you to try to pretend that you know what you are talking about by making up a story about software that would allow anybody to do this. Even if a service provider traces an IP address, they would not be allowed to share this information with anyone other than the user themselves or the police, and then, only if there is evidence of a crime. I appreciate that you are frustrated by the attacks against you, but I'm afraid you have only yourself to blame. If you don't like the heat, get out of the kitchen or, in this case, off the blog.

    4. Anon 7:42 pm. So you believe, but like so many things that you believe it has no foundation in reality. I can understand why you live in fear that your identity will be revealed, but revealed it will be. In the meantime I tire of you.

    5. I rest my case. I made the posting at 7:42 but I didn't make any other postings. You won't be unmasking me because I haven't done anything wrong. I'll make a further prediction: JH will not unmask anybody because he cannot do this. I won't spoil the blog by reminding JH of this at every opportunity but I reserve the right to remind him of this when he becomes particularly pompous and irritating (I guess that could be quite often).

    6. Anon 1:14pm,

You have made many other posts of a similar nature.

Why are you so frightened of people discovering your identity; what are you trying to hide; is your secret so bad?

If, as you claim, you do not want to spoil this blog, and that you have nothing to hide then send me an email. You know how to do this.

    7. Stop lying Holyer. I haven't made "many other posts of a similar nature." If you have evidence to the contrary feel free to provide it. Otherwise, shut up and stop making a fool of yourself.

P.S. I have no idea how to send you an E-mail and why would I want to do this anyway? It's bad enough having to waste time answering the rubbish you have posted.

P.P.S. John Holyer still hasn't unmasked anybody because he can't.

    8. Anonymous 8:22pm,

You post under the guise of various 'anonymous' bleating out your ubiquitous mish mash of duff information and gratuitous insults.

I do not accept that you do not know how to send an Email. Anyway, to Email me you just click on my name at the top of this post. This will take you to my profile page. On the left hand side under the word 'contact' you will see the word 'Email'. Click on this and you will see an Email form. Type what you will and press send.

Carry on in the belief that you cannot be unmasked if this quells your fear.

I look forward to your Email. I think you will agree that we have much to talk about. If you can pluck up the courage to do so.

    9. You are correct only service provider will know your IP address, if you want to find your own IP addy just Google it by typing ip address in google. John H. is full of u no wat

    10. Anonymouse 4:14 pm,

You are talking to yourself - yet again. You are not correct in stating that only the ISP will know the IP Address of a computer. Others can discover it, without the assistance or knowledge of the ISP. I say again, email me so we discuss this.

  4. Anons this was a demonstration of trained sea rescue dogs, so I think perhaps an exception is someone was drowning, or in this case rescue in conjunction with the RNLI.

John, the problem is we are funding through TDC a tourist information service, website and phone, that isn't fit for purpose, try looking on the website and ringing them up.

    1. Michael,

Dogs are magnificent creatures. I think we are fortunate to be able to share our world with them. Our two species work well together.

      Delete
    2. I suspect that you would have been hard pressed to know that they had been there after they left.

  5. Thanks Michael - not the first time dogs have have been blamed for human plop thanks to Southern Water and TDC.

The Coastguard don't seem to do much for their tax (how much are they paid?) - do they just leave it to the RNLI? The FireBrigade could do the Coastguard desk work.

Thanet folks owe a debt of gratitiude to the RNLI chasing away polluting ships endangering the the Blue Flag beaches.

Agree with your points on TDC Tourism. Not good enough in advance notice and range of events. Volunteers can't and shouldn't be more than topup acitivity and if the paid staff can't do it then councillors must sack them not be paid cheerleaders.

The RNLI is the charity not TDC.

    1. 1933 please do your homework before joining in. The RNLI and the Coastguard are complimentary organisations, not rivals; in fact it is the Coastguard who call out a lifeboat crew via the local RNLI Hon Sec.
The RNLI are indeed a charity but they do not chase off polluting ships. That power resides with the MCGA, of which the Coastguard are part.
The Coastguard officers are marine professionals, very often ex-seafarers. As with many highly specialised jobs they are very well trained and hence make the job look very easy. That doesn't mean that any old soul can just wander in and do the job and anyway I'm sure the fire brigade are busy enough already.
I would suggest that you do some research on www.mcga.org.uk so that you will have a better appreciation of the important role that these people fulfill; and no, they are not very well paid.

  6. You're wasting your time Tim. Anyone who works in the public sector is public enemy number one at the moment. The only people who count in Cameron's Britain are the overblown shopkeepers who call themselves "businessmen" and purport to keep the country afloat.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Interesting point Tim but rather overblown and inaccurate. The RNLI is a volunteer charity, the Coastguard tax-funded. For the latter to simply call on the former is a bit naughty. And if these marine professionals are simply too idle to control shipping they're supposed to know about then they need to be reformed. It looks like a rest home for salty old seamen - no doubt keen to pass the blame onto RNLI when things go wrong.

Either the Fire Brigade and certainly the RNLI could stare at the radar better. Not fit for purpose springs to mind.

Not sure why 7:30 has it in for the private sector - they pay for the public sector (some would say excessively or like Dunkirk end up doing it for them in the end) and bail out the large corporates who are bending if not breaking the rules on tax dodging or safety like TDC, Pleasuram and Infratil respectively etc.

You demonstrate a total lack of knowledge of the workings, roles and responsibility of the Coastguard, Fire & Rescue Service and the RNLI. Next you will be suggesting the Mountain Rescue should get involved or, perhaps the RN should have responsibility for sinking unwanted shipping. Then again, the RAF have people very good at radar watching and they can also sink ships. You could even get the RMP involved to arrest all your tax dodgers and rule breakers, but aren't these villains the private sector who are supposed to pay for the public sector whilst doing their job for them.

Perhaps, on the other hand, you are just confused. You can get something for it from your GP if you ask. At least that might save you from making a total fool of yourself on blogsites.

    2. Confused and insulting 3:31 with little content if any beyond empty trumpeting about the uniformed services. Try again to post something coherent or of interest if you can or be quiet.

I said the Coastguard were not fit for purpose and could be easily merged with the RNLI (at a large saving) or the Fire Brigade (for a smaller saving). And a service improvement.

    3. An elderly Lancejack speaks at 3:03. Mountain Rescue are a charity. They're not used much in the mountains of Kent. RN can/does sink shipping (why there is also a fleet of Border Agency gunboats too seems wasteful).

The RAF are useless at radar - look at the banned aircraft detailed at Manston over the years. Even the RAF Regiment and MOD Police failed to spot them.

The RMP rightly report to the Police - scandals such as Deepcut Barracks and the murders there are a disgrace. They're of little more use than kicking a few drunk squaddies around Aldershot or finding out how many guns have been nicked from the QM stores.

    4. Now who is confused, 6:23, for you refer to 3:03, and then go on to direct your comments at 3:31. Seems to me that your sole purpose is to rubbish all and everything. Mind you, your information is crap, but that is pretty standard for mouthy individuals.

    5. Crumbs, well spotted 6:59 with calling 3:03 3:31 or vice versa. The rest of your insults are equally juvenile. Answer the points made as to why you think they're crap or do be quiet. Maybe the Kent Mountain Rescue should be called out to find you and your opinions? The RMP too?.

    6. No mountains in East Kent? What about Fort Hill in Margate or Crow Hill in Broadstairs or even Northdown Hill in St Peters. Enough poor old souls struggling up those to justify some rescue organisation. As for RMP answering to the police, which constabulary would that be since they are the only truly federal police organisation in the UK. All the others are based on a city, county or regional basis. Juvenile insults are reserved for childish minded old miseries who are in their second childhood like 6:23.

    7. I think you're confusing streets with mountains but let's humour you. RMP answer to the Police in that area eg Kent Police (even for military matters). Hence the low opinion of them by most policemen and public as squaddie-kickers etc. I'm sure you'd agree as what seems to be Manston memory lane ex-RMP.

You wouldn't want them investigating murders etc would you? Look at the Deepcut barracks mess or banned aircraft at Manston.

With 20% youth unemployment though maybe national service is viable: get them painting rocks and the like. The RMP I mean.

  8. There are so many anonymous posts that I find it impossible to sort out who is say what to who and why. In these circumstances I much prefer Youtube and its videos of dogs. Such as this one of a Newfie and Toddler: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYl8SYNuaKQ

[Now I wait to see how many venomous posts I receive as a consequence]

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
