Some more old Thanet pictures, but what did people write on the back of these postcards?

I popped into my study just now and got out my mobile phone and a pile of postcards as I thought it would interest readers to look at a few more old local pictures, a lot of these postcards haven’t been written on, but then some have.

So with this next lot I have photographed the backs too.

As I keep saying my bookshop has been very busy recently and I just haven’t had the time to chase up local issues or write anything much, we are closed tomorrow so a bit of a break, here is the link to the books that went out on the shelves today http://michaelsbookshop.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/equal-rites-in-bookshop.html lots of local history.

  1. Whereabouts was the windmill in the second photo Michael?

It doesn't look like Newington (Peter Mack's) mill or Grange Road?

    Hereson maybe?

  2. I think I've worked it out - not Ramsgate at all but Broadstairs.

  3. Michael I think it's Pierremont Mill, so yes Broadstairs

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
