Cinema Church Pub

Wetherspoon’s have a planning application in to turn the Kings Fellowship Church in King Street Ramsgate into a pub, I have only just noticed this one, although it was submitted in April.

I remember it as the King’s Cinema when I was a youth of yesteryear, it was then (late 60s) a bit of a fleapit, I am not really sure what type of church the Kings Fellowship is or was.

Click here for the TDC planning website the application number is F/TH/08/0405

  1. Oh yes I remember the Kings, also there was a pub on the left hand corner called the Red Lion I think. Has that gone then?
I used to live in Ramsgate moved to the north side though 25 years ago.

  2. I called application to committee and a large number of residents in Abbott Hill and Camden Road wrote to object.
    Officers have refused the application.
Dont know yet if there will be an appeal.

  3. In the height of the church's success in the 90's it was filled to almost standing room only but one thing and another saw it decline. Lot's of people moved on to other things in other places.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
