Looking at the local blogs and news websites today it isn’t always easy to work out what may be an April fools post and what could be real; or at least a rumour with some foundation.

So first the rumour, which I believe may have some foundation in truth, which is that Formula 1 have been looking for their own dedicated motor racing airport and have put in an offer for Manston Airport.

Details are sketchy at the moment and there is some doubt as to whether the airport is actually for sale as an airport or whether the intention all along was asset stripping and residential development.

The other is that wind, tide and weather being favourable the tall ships taking part in Race of the Classics should be visiting Ramsgate Harbour in the next week at the moment they are scheduled to arrive on Saturday.

Plenty of photos of previous visits just click on http://thanetonline.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Tall%20Ships scroll down and follow the links.

The F1 Manston rumour is now looking much more likely to be an April fools wind up, understandably my usual Manston Airport sources are fairly jumpy at the moment.

The Race of the Classics does seem to be on target and you can probably follow the progress of the tall ships by clicking on the link below.

  2. All 3 747s diverted to Stansted today because TDC health inspectors not present. Is this what council support looks like?

  3. It's outrageous that Formula 1 is taking over Manston. I am setting up a group of concerned residents called No to Night Drives. We are all in favour of the airport being used by Ecclestone and his chums but we don't want any noise. We are proposing that F1 should go all electric - a bit like racing streamlined milk-floats.

  7. Well as long as you have a blame crutch 5.52 eh ? Open a debate and show us how it should be done.

  8. The blame, 7:24, if you want to go down that road rests fair and square with the blog administrator for allowing such mindless drivel. As for debate, you need a topic and at least two intelligent minds for such to blossom. You cannot debate with the mindless.

  9. It is a generally accepted practice to take, as the topic, the subject of the blog post. The clue is very often in its title. Hope this is helpful.

  10. So what exactly has the Ramsgate village idiot's comments about loads of planes got to do with tall ships or Formula 1, 9:01? If you are to debate the topic of the post, stick to it and don't go off on your own agenda. I repeat, that well known clown destroys debate.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
