Ramsgate holidays between the wars, another councillor resigns and work in the bookshop

Having bought the post war Broadstairs guide the other day and working away here on the computer with several new local publications nearly finished and a pile of local history related emails that would daunt anyone I just diverted into the 1939 guide to Ramsgate to answer one. You can buy the guide at http://michaelsbookshop.com/catalogue/id356.htm or by coming into my bookshop.

Anyway clicking on the sample pages link for this guide I found the images had become corrupted so as I pulled some out to do something html on the bookshop website here they are.

Apart from work in the computer there was also physical work in the shop, my work on the books that started a couple of weeks ago by taking the military books off and reviewing the prices has now got the a sort out the order of the section stage, so today I put some labels on the shelf edges. The next stage is more sorting and more labels.

The main local news today is that another UKIP Thanet Councillor has resigned, see http://www.thanetgazette.co.uk/Newington-Ukip-councillor-Mo-Leys-resigns/story-29278983-detail/story.html strange indeed coming on the heals of the crime commissioner election results where the Thanet voters seemed to be endorsing our UKIP council.

And back down the rabbit hole in the bookshop lots of books went out on the shelves too, see http://michaelsbookshop.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/down-rabbit-hole-in-bookshop.html

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
