FIRE & PEDESTRIAN SAFETY

From Clive Heart

After applying consistent pressure on Kent Highways I am today informed that a pedestrian walkway will now finally be formed around the hoarding covering the recent fire damage in Northdown Road.

Mystery fireman’s funeral

Has anyone any idea whose funeral this is, Terry and I reckon it’s about 1910, from the bottom up I’m pretty sure this is St Augustine’s abbey suggesting he was a catholic, we reckon the cortège is looking up Hereson Road from the traffic lights, suggesting they are on the way to Ramsgate cemetery, next one up I am assuming is the fireman that died and the top one probably at Ramsgate cemetery.

Many thanks to David for letting me scan them.

Stables in Cecilia Road gone for a Burton

A chance conversation about an animal and a fire reminded me to post this. These pictures click here to view the rest of them all relate to Pc Jordan who rescued some horses from the sables in Cecilia Road when the caught fire in 1932. I am afraid that is the only information I have at the moment, so if anyone knows any more please post a comment or email me one to post.

Warm Cottage

Swiss Cottage is on fire in Ramsgate, recently it’s had so many name changes and closures I am not sure if it was trading or what it is called at the moment. I am pretty sure the building value must be so high as to make it not viable as a business.
