    1. Purple Om,

You're a fine one accusing others of stupidity. You're so dumb that if you threw a rock at the ground you'd miss.

    4. Purple OM,

You imagine yourself to be a wit - and you're half right. But then I realise that it's hard for you to get the big picture when you have such a small screen. It is curious why you skulk under such a sacred Hindu logo when you are evidently not worthy of it. On the other hand you make me believe in reincarnation because nobody can be as stupid as you in one lifetime.

    8. Anon I have been out in the garden testing axioms, the hares have run away and the tortoise has gone to sleep but I too am confused about the stones, I guess the answer is that we know who some of the real people in SMA are.

Anyway I have deleted your comment (nice try though) and put it below with the offending part removed.

“I'm a bit confused. My contribution was removed when I referred to the pro-Manston protesters as the pro-airport ****; but John Holyer is allowed to tell another poster that he is so dumb that, if he threw a rock at the ground, it would miss. How does this not constitute personal abuse?”

  2. More pulp from Purple Om. Be careful what rocks you turn over, you never know what you might find underneath. To return to topic, and it looks as if I am the first, looks like a cracking exhibition.

  4. Purple Om,

You speak of goats under bridges. What makes you think that I would be interested in your sexual preferences.

  5. What a boring lot of posters so far just insulting each other. Why don't they keep to commenting on the subject or start their own blog or go to Twitter where they can continue their insults without the rest of us needing to read them. I think they should be banned from here.

    1. OK Dave, your point is taken. Perhaps you could start is off with your views on Kay Horn & Jane Weston at The York Street Gallery in Ramsgate?

    2. You still have to make another boring post - seems to be an obsession you have to post when you have nothing to say about the actual subject. . I have no views on Kay and Jane gallery but Michael's photographs say it all

  7. I have just got back to my pc and have read through the comments here and it would appear that some of those commenting are playing something very much akin to various games of humiliation once popular down graduate lane.

It seems that in order to win this type of thing it is necessary to humiliate oneself and I suppose this could be seen as a very appropriate response to art.

Here and on some previous posts this seems to have developed to the point where it is actually imposable to make a derogatory comment about someone else without humiliating oneself more than the other person.

I suppose an interesting factor was the way it seems to have fizzled out as people realised this.

Anyway I was wondering if I put together a structured set of rules for this, would it be helpful? Points for commenting before the other person has responded, points for being the last one to comment in a particular exchange, points for mentioning another’s typo. And of course negative points for anyone who can find a way of humiliating someone else without humiliating themselves more.

Possibly I could issue a certificate for the person who has humiliated themselves the most in their endeavours to score over other commentators in any given month.

  8. Splendid idea, Michael. Plus points for achieving a personal best in number of posts on one topic (at least two of your regulars have managed more than 30), points for repeating "clever" put-downs they have used before, points for using long words whose meaning they don't properly understand, points for boasting about their past. Why, we could even start enjoying and even looking forward to their posts, as they fight for the title.

  9. Its a game I did not start, or want to continue, why you endure them its beyond me?

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
