Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
Now that Michael is an art gallery! Great Post.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fabulous gallery that one can visit over and over again and always find something new - as well as returning to old favourites, particularly the compelling Harriet Halhed. I am glad you are spreading the word about this wonderful free attraction, which so many people don't know about.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael. These will be well worth a visit.
ReplyDeleteI post this out of interest:
ReplyDeleteTDC SALARIES IN EXCESS OF £50,000 pa. Source Tax Payers Alliance
Year 2011-2012.
No. of staff on remuneration packages in excess of £50,000 is 41. Which is an increase of 10 from previous year.
Total cost of remuneration of those on more than £50,000 pa is £3,057,500. Which an increase of £807,500 from previous year.
A bargain?
That's Labour for you, John, great at spending our money.
DeleteBack to the topic, lovely pictures and I shall certainly pay this gallery a visit.
Looking at the wages and numbers of over £50k employees for the last 30 years and factoring inflation, there isn’t much variation under either political party, it is just Parkinson’s law gone mad.
DeleteHow paying any district council officer over a thousand pounds a week can be justified is something I just don’t understand. Maybe civil servants at county level, but probably not maybe the cream of civil servants at national government level.
I will cover the Driver document thing later today, I am waiting for a reply from the council.
I do not know for a fact; but £50,000 is about what the head of the FCO's Middle East Department would receive. This paints an interesting picture from which we can draw our own conclusions (see what I did there).
DeleteIf I'm wrong then someone please correct me.
It is the year on year increase of over £800K at a time of constraint and cuts from central government that would worry me. There are very few people in Thanet seeing rises at all, let alone of any significance, so why should local government officers be an exception.
DeleteRecently Broadstairs Town Council advertised for a Town Clerk at a little over £30K per annum including some anti-social hours working. They were flooded with applications from highly qualified applicants. Why do TDC have to pay so much in an area of relatively cheap housing.
