Margate and Ramsgate pictures

Starting with the Corner of Hardres Street and High Street Ramsgate

Then the lifeboat slipway in Margate I think this is a picture of it under construction.

Then Outside Southwood Tavern Southwood Road around 1900, well it looks like ladies taking a ride under military escort in a horse drawn wagonette. The young girl front middle is identified as Florence Moody, whose granddaughter Doris May Dimond found this postcard in her mother's loft.

Then the Red Lion in Ramsgate probably about 1900

Then the ship in Margate Harbour looks like it says Verity or Variety on it. Possibly a collier.

Then the sailing ship engraving it's in one of the local collections so I thought I'd include it

Then Centricity and I think this is at the bottom of Margate slipway.

Then Milton Square

Then the Pier Hotel

Then a paddle steamer I'm not sure which one hopefully someone will tell us

Finally the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic church gather around St Augustine's Cross, Ramsgate in 1897 to celebrate saint Augustine landing in 597 AD

I'm sorry if I've posted some of these before I just can't remember.

Next a thank you to people who bring photos here to Michael's Bookshop in Ramsgate either for me to copy them or for me to buy the photos from them.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
