Thanet District Council Shadow Cabinet Reshuffle?
13 comments:
Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
TDC IT Glitch more likely Michael!
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit difficult to shadow Iris who has responsibility for just about everything of any importance except finance and is of course Mayor of Margate too!
The cabinet posts were recently aligned to reflect the executive director responsibilities. So if Iris has too much to cover then so does the corresponding exec. No doubt the previous administration though that they have the right executive streucture in place. But if the shadow cabinet are struggling to keep up with Iris I suggest they look for a better shadow for her or use more than one shadow.
ReplyDeleteSimon I guess you would know if the Conservative group are considering making some sort of attempt at regaining power or just having a reshuffle in an attempt to shadow Iris.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally the only reason I discovered this was because having had a good look at the photo on my previous post, I thought I would write an open letter to all of the cabinet and shadow cabinet members, suggesting that they re-establish the annual fishing contest.
Something on the lines of if we sent you all out to sea together on a small boat, you would all either learn to work together pdq, or only some of you would come back.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteI know someone who has a boat.
Probably wouldn't get out of the harbour due to the lack of dredging.
ReplyDeleteEither that or they could do it from the coast under an unsafe cliff and next to a burning building.
Same old jaundiced Thanet bloggers at work. If we have not got a Tory cabinet to attack anymore let's attack their shadow one.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile the new administration procrastinate, or more correctly do sweet FA, about Manston so owners, supporters and No to Night Flights activists are all unhappy. Talk about Nero, I think it is a guy named Hart who is fiddling whilst the place burns now.
1.13 I assure you that when I looked for the details of cabinet and shadow cabinet members on the council’s website, had all of the cabinet members gone I would have mentioned the fact with similar speculation.
ReplyDeleteI should also point out that I am proposing sent them all to sea for a fishing competition, are you suggesting that only one party should engage in the competition what would be the point?
Does look a bit odd but then again, this is a Council website.
ReplyDeleteOn the Mayor of Margate issue, this time last year we knew who the mayor was to be. When's the election for this years Mayor?
James I would guess even with council websites someone has to delete the content of a page in order for it to vanish. Perhaps this was a malicious deletion, possibly there is a red cell operating in the council. The alternative I suppose is that the content of council webpages is vanishing as if by magic.
ReplyDeleteI think if you click on the picture to enlarge it, you will find driving the charabanc is a clue to the identity of the new mayor of Margate.
Anonymous @1:13,
ReplyDeleteYou misread. Michael was suggesting that we put them all in a boat. You too if you like.
Folks, I was just being flippant! Far be it for me to suggest any red bias anywhere in Thanet, but interesting how you all pick up on that suggestion though not my criticism of the new leadership over Manston. Speaks volumes in itself!
ReplyDeleteAt National level, the Liberal Democrats are finished. They will never be trusted again after promising to oppose tuition fees and failing to do so. At local level the same fate awaits the Labour group for promising to oppose night-flights and then, doing nothing.
ReplyDeleteThe Lib Dems are actually not doing a bad job, with ref to tuition fees the moral of the story must be don't make any rash promises you don't know what a mess the last lot have left. Full marks to them for accepting there was not any choice as the piggy bank was empty.
