Ramsgate and Margate pictures and video about bookshops

First picture is Margate road in Ramsgate before the building of the viaduct.

The next three are all of the Tudor House in Margate.

The next one is an engraving of sailing ships off Margate.

The next one I think his Church Square Margate

The next one is Saint Augustine's cross this commemorates the landing of Saint Augustine in AD 597 the cross itself dates from 1884 by Granville George Levison Gower the second earl of Granville

Couple of st Lawrence pubs the Wheatsheaf appears in both of them but one of them has the White Horse as well

And finally The iron Duke in Ramsgate, it always begs the question where did the lantern go? I did hear that one pane of glass from it resides in the heritage department of tdc of course I may be mistaken

Here at Michael's Bookshop in Ramsgate I'm having a fairly busy day on the local history book and historic local map front. I'm putting this down to my Facebook group posts. My ultimate intention of improving people's understanding of Thanet local history seems to be working. I'm still considering reducing the number of Facebook groups that I belong to so if you don't want my posts in your group please tell me.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
