Dunkirk evacuation and model tug display at Ramsgate maritime Museum in 2010

This is the link to the rest of the model tug photos

This is the link to some more pictures of The Dunkirk Little Ships in Ramsgate Harbour in 2010

As you may have noticed the links above lead you to a series of linked pages of pictures I took back in 2010 that mostly relate to the old transpor theme.

The page of books that we had in 2010 is out of date, however we always have a reasonable range of books for the steam enthusiast and the marine enthusiast at Michael's Bookshop where I pretend to work here in Ramsgate.

this is the link to the photos of the books we put out today

I was mostly doing carpentry in the bookshop today, more bookcases, the next part of the plan is to expand our range of fiction.

I have just had a look at the national news, the disunity over BREXIT is rather depressing at the moment. However this goes it is bound to leave half the population unhappy, I would also think however things go it is best expect difficult economic times.

I think the news item saying that a fifth of Britons don't use the internet is also worrying here is the link  a very big problem is that our infrastructure now assumes that everyone does and that they have a smartphone which they can use reasonably well.

For the most part it seems that it is the people who are both old and poor who are falling through the net and a fifth of the population is a a huge amount.

One way or another, either by replacing some of the infrastructure that people who don't have the internet would need, like radio, TV and public phones in hospitals, or we need to help this fifth to get themselves sorted out.

On to Margate

This is a picture of Albert Terrace
a better but more cropped version of it here
and this is Hazardous Terrace the frontage of which is about the middle of The Sands Hotel now, you can see it in the photos above.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
