ReplyDeleteDon I got the camera about 2 years ago it’s a Pentax digital slr so all of my old pentax equipment some of it 40 years old fits it.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem is that when you change lenses and I use about 6 different ones every day, dirt gets in and I am rather lazy about cleaning it.
I also often use it in manual mode and guess the shutter speed and aperture.
I often use very wide-angle lenses and mirror lenses hence some very strange effects.

How well do the old lenses work with the digital camera Michael ?
I'm in a similar position of having a collection of old pentax kit (KA mount, I believe), and was wondering how well the old lenses might work with a new Pentax digital SLR. Does the metering still work ok with the old lenses ?

ReplyDeleteA 500 mm fixed F8 pentax screw mirror lens I would guess it is about 55 years old (you can get a little bayonet conversion ring) most were taken hand held. The automatic metering works fairly well however I usually set it on manual and guess.
An 80 210 bayonet pentax zoom about 30 years old the camera reads the aperture from the lens fine but you have to focus it manually.
I used a mixture of auto manual guess and a goffen light meter which I think is over 50 years old.
A modern fully auto 18 55 mm auto focus metering all work on total auto if you want. I also used a super wide fish eye attachment on this lens and it still works in full auto mode.
For a few of the shots I used various other cameras I had with me but the pentax is my main preference as for how well it meters about the same as a conventional roll film pentax.
