Caption anyone? The date is 1905, why the ladder doesn't reach the ground and so on.
Lunch at Broadstairs Pavilion, just a bit too windy for outside although there were people in the sea, I sketched a bit.
We were out bookbuying to Margate and Broadstairs

My laptop is still behaving badly, so posting mostly using my phone, a problem with computers in the modern world is mainly too many hackers, so too many operating system updates, with every so often one not working properly. We seem to be getting through the latest Windows 10 update with a mixture of being patient and some restarting. Another aspect of this is if you don't start your computer on most days the buildup of updates that it hasn't done can be a big issue.
We have reduced things down to having six computers working on a daily basis with four of these related to having a small business. Most of the book trade reference works moved from paper to microfiche in the 1970s and by about 1995 to disk.
I think most personal computing we now do on phone or tablet, but on the whole it is easiest to write this blog using a pc or laptop. I am considering changing this and making it easier to write the blog using my phone.
Technology wise at the moment in the UK I think the biggest problem is smartphone and cloud illiteracy among the older and ageing population.
Talking to shopkeepers in Margate, there seems to be a feeling that regeneration through the arts and Dreamland is still pretty tenuous and that quite a few of the new business don't look as though they are likely to succeed long term, although I think the consensus seems to be more on unviable business plans than issues with Margate.
Good to see so many beach awards for Thanet here is the link for further information water quality at most seaside towns around the world goes up and down, the Safer Seas App is fairly new and doesn't work for most places yet, here is the link
The underlying message though is always check before swimming for a few days after heavy rain, as in most coastal areas when the drains can't cope with the extra water they discharge directly into the sea.
After 20 years the "What's in your Backyard" service provided by the Environment Agency is closing making it much more difficult to keep track of pollution incidents, here is the link
I have to admit to considering voting for the Green Party in next week's EU elections, there is an element of frustration in this.

Comments, since I started writing this blog in 2007 the way the internet works has changed a lot, comments and dialogue here were once viable in an open and anonymous sense. Now if you comment here I will only allow the comment if it seems to make sense and be related to what the post is about. I link the majority of my posts to the main local Facebook groups and to my Facebook account, “Michael Child” I guess the main Ramsgate Facebook group is We Love Ramsgate. For the most part the comments and dialogue related to the posts here goes on there. As for the rest of it, well this blog handles images better than Facebook, which is why I don’t post directly to my Facebook account, although if I take a lot of photos I am so lazy that I paste them directly from my camera card to my bookshop website and put a link on this blog.
